The Group's engineering expertise is widely recognised, thanks to its two state-of-the-art design and development centres. The design of components is carried out at the Italian Design and Development Centre, which boasts a state of-the-art testing facility. The German Engineering Centre focuses on assembly and special products. Each manufacturing centre has local engineering support staff who are linked in with the two central teams. OEM customers rely extensively on the Group’s design and testing capabilities which are integrated into the internal processes.
The Group has an on-going Research and Development program managed by dedicated engineering teams that seek to improve the quality of its existing range of products, develop products for new equipment models and applications, and develop new products for the Group’s markets. Engineers use state-of-the-art technology to develop and improve products. All the Group companies operate on unified platforms that link design to manufacturing, including CAD, PLM databases, and FEM (structural analysis).
ITM has invested significantly in technical innovation and developed a number of IoT-patented products, transforming the business with digitisation through TrackAdvice®, an inspection system to maximise the undercarriage life and reduce maintenance costs. More recently, ITM has been following the path to servitisation with TRUST ITM® (Trackadvice Undercarriage Smart Technology), the innovative integrated system to monitor and improve the performance of crawler machines, helping its customers to manage undercarriage life and reduce total cost of ownership.
ITM invests in Research and Development to create customised and tailor-made solutions for the mining industry and special applications. Since 1957, ITM Group has successfully completed over 3.000 special projects for customers across diverse industries and geographic locations. In addition to the Group's own facilities, there are strong links with the University of Modena in Italy, the Atzerland Institute and the National Centre for Metallurgical Research (CENIM) in Spain.
