The tracked machines that remove asphalt or concrete are commonly known as cold planers or asphalt milling machines.
Asphalt pavers are tracked machines specifically designed to lay a new road.
Tracked asphalt pavers are equipped with long, state-of-the-art frames specifically designed to provide the machine with adequate tractive force and ground grip. This helps in transferring the significant weight from the asphalt screed to smoothly lay and highly compact the asphalt material. The machine frames are equipped with excavator-type unsealed track links and rubber vulcanised shoes, which ensure the necessary tractive force and prevent damage from the very hot asphalt being laid. The rollers are a combination of standard excavator types and special excavator rollers with internal bearings to better support the tractive forces involved. The idler and sprocket are conventional construction excavator components.

Tracked cold planers are equipped with state-of-the-art frames that are compact in size and specifically designed to support the machine’s weight and the milling force applied to the ground. These frames also ensure the machine’s agility to move in restricted areas or manoeuvres around small obstacles, such as manholes and trapdoors, while removing asphalt. Additionally, they support the considerable tractive force and machine weight.
The frames are equipped with unsealed track links and either polyurethane or rubber vulcanised track shoes to increase traction and prevent damage to existing roads where the machine operates.
